Horse Water Treadmill, Ascot.

We are conveniently located in Ascot on the edge of Windsor Great Park.
Whether you are looking to enhance performance, sculpture correct muscle development or rehabilitate your equine friend, we can help.

Treadmill

Our FMBS water treadmill enables the correct weightless training of your horse working in a naturally balanced outline in a safe controlled environment.

The treadmill gives your horse a highly effective full body workout. Improving suppleness, stride length, joint flexion and cardio vascular fitness. Dependent on water level, the buoyancy of the water reduces concussion and impact on the lower limbs whilst encouraging an increased range of motion. The high resistance of the water leads to increased muscle activity and the water pressure helps to reduce swelling whilst stimulating circulation of the lower limbs.

The option for increased strength and power is facilitated by the adjustable speed, chilled water resistance and the degree of incline used.

When using the treadmill as part of training you will see an improvement in stride length, muscle tone, strength, all over suppleness and performance whilst reducing the risk of injury.

Rehabilitation

The treadmill is designed to safely aid horses returning to work (vet referral required) – and can reduce recovery time by up to 50-60%

Low impact exercises safely pave the way to recovery.
The treadmill environment provides a combination of weightless controlled exercise with cold water resistance and buoyancy.

The ability to make minor alterations in speed, water level and incline makes the strengthening and fittening process progressive and manageable.

Operation

The height of the water is adapted to the individual horse, starting off with short dry treadmill sessions for inexperienced horses or rehab cases, working to longer sessions with water getting deeper with every session. The deeper water encourages a longer stride length with a decreased stride frequency which results in increased back extension and flexion.

Our treadmill also has an incline which can be used to incorporate hill work into the sessions. Working on an incline leads to an increased activity of the main muscle groups. The water level and incline gradient are fully adjustable and progressively tailored to your horse’s individual needs.

Our treadmills control panel is specifically designed for ease of adjusting speed, water height and incline. This enables us to instantly make changes based on each horse’s requirements. Our operators have extensive personal equine experience ranging from competing to rehab – working alongside vets who are as excited as we are to have this water treadmill onsite. We have also undergone training with Dr. Matthias Baumann who has over 25 years experience working with treadmills.
